Homemade BLT Turkey Sandwich
Ingredients:
- Slices of homemade bread loaf
- Sliced turkey breast
- Cooked bacon strips
- Fresh lettuce leaves
- Sliced ripe tomatoes
- Avocado slices
- Sliced cheese of your choice
- Mayonnaise
- Dijon mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Toast the Bread: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the homemade bread loaf into thick slices. Place the bread slices in a single layer on a baking sheet and lightly brush them with melted butter or olive oil. Toast in the preheated oven for 5-8 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
- Prepare the Sandwich Ingredients: While the bread is toasting, gather your sandwich ingredients. Slice the turkey breast, cook the bacon until crispy, wash and dry the lettuce leaves and tomatoes, and slice the avocado.
- Assemble the Sandwich: On one slice of toasted bread, spread a generous layer of mayonnaise. On another slice, spread a layer of Dijon mustard. Layer the sandwich ingredients on the slice with mayonnaise: start with fresh lettuce leaves, followed by sliced cheese, tomatoes, avocado slices, cooked bacon strips, and sliced turkey breast. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Top with the Other Slice: Place the slice of bread with Dijon mustard on top of the layered ingredients to form the sandwich.
- Press and Slice: Gently press down on the sandwich to ensure all the ingredients are compacted together. Use a sharp knife to slice the sandwich diagonally into halves or quarters.
